China Campus Network Why China Cultural China
China is a fascinating place to be. Different parts of China have different local cultures and traditions, yet there is always a kind of harmonious blend between the nature and people, and between the ancient and the modern.
Recognised as one of the four great ancient civilisations in the world (along with ancient Egypt, Babylon and India), China boasts a vast geographic expanse, 5,000 years of history and rich and profound culture.
Chinese is one of the two world languages with over a billion speakers. It is the most used mother tongue in the world with over 1 billion native speakers, and it is attracting more learners their second (or more) language.
Given its diversity and uniqueness, Chinese culture is a huge topic. It’s unlikely to learn it in a short time. This section will provide some basic ideas about the Chinese language and culture. Topics will include Chinese language, major festivals, traditions, heritage, arts and crafts, and of course, Chinese food.
