Russian Students Discover China This Winter Break

In early January, 31 enthusiastic Russian high school students, accompanied by their teachers, traveled to China to celebrate New Year and Christmas in a unique way. They joined the ‘Future with China’ Winter Camps, organized by China Campus Network (CCN). This year, the program featured two captivating journeys: the Tale of Two Cities in Shanghai and Hangzhou from January 3rd to 15th, and Tradition and Modernity in Guangzhou from January 3rd to 13th.
一月初，31名充满热情的俄罗斯高中生在陪同老师的带领下，前往中国以一种独特的方式庆祝新年和圣诞节。他们参加了由中国校园网络（CCN）组织的“与中国的未来”冬令营。今年的项目提供了两个引人入胜的行程：“双城记”之旅——上海与杭州（1月3日至15日）以及“传统与现代”之旅——广州（1月3日至13日）。
CCN`s Camps aim to create unforgettable and personalized experiences through five key modules: Chinese Language, University Life, Cultural China, Sightseeing, and Competition. While both camps shared these core objectives, the distinct locations added unique flavors to each group’s educational journey.
CCN的冬令营旨在通过五个关键模块——中文语言、大学生活、中国文化、观光旅游和竞赛，为学生创造难忘且个性化的体验。虽然两个营地共享这些核心目标，但各自独特的地点为每组学生的教育之旅增添了不同的风采。
Shanghai-Hangzhou Winter Camp | 上海-杭州冬令营
The Tale of Two Cities Shanghai-Hangzhou Winter Camp began in the vibrant metropolis of Shanghai. Students participated in immersive Mandarin language sessions and engaged in cultural activities such calligraphy, Chiese knot-making, visited Chinese garment atelie and played Chinese sports. Academic exploration included a visit to Shanghai University, one of China’s leading institutions, where students gained insights into innovative academic environments and learned about opportunities for pursuing future studies in China.
“两城故事”上海-杭州冬令营在充满活力的上海大都市拉开帷幕。学生们参与了沉浸式的普通话语言课程，并积极参与了书法、中国结制作等文化活动，参观了中国服装工作室并体验了中国传统体育活动。学术探索包括访问上海大学——中国的顶尖高校之一，学生们在这里深入了解了创新的学术环境，并学习了在中国深造的机会。
Beyond the classroom, students immersed themselves in Shanghai’s vibrant lifestyle. They navigated the metro system, strolled through iconic streets such as Old Shanghai, Yu Garden, Xintiandi, and Nanjing Road, and visited notable landmarks including the Shanghai History Museum, Shanghai Museum, Asia Pacific Plaza, and the impressive Shanghai Tower. The experience was further enriched by a magical evening ferry ride along the Huangpu River. A special highlight of this year’s program was a visit to Shanghai Disneyland, where students experienced the magic of one of the world’s most famous theme parks, adding an extra layer of excitement to their adventure.
课外活动方面，学生们全身心地融入了上海充满活力的生活方式。他们乘坐地铁，漫步于老上海、豫园、新天地、南京路等标志性街道，还参观了上海历史博物馆、上海博物馆、亚太广场以及雄伟的上海塔。黄浦江上的神奇夜游更是为这段旅程增添了无比的魅力。今年项目的特别亮点之一是参观上海迪士尼乐园，学生们在世界著名的主题公园中体验了神奇与欢乐，为他们的冒险增添了更多兴奋。
After an exciting week in Shanghai, the students boarded a high-speed train bound for the picturesque city of Hangzhou, covering the 200-kilometer journey in just over 40 minutes. In Hangzhou, they seamlessly transitioned from Shanghai’s bustling urban skyline to the tranquil beauty of West Lake. They explored local attractions, including the Silk Museum, the Grand Canal, and historic streets brimming with culture, and even tried their hand at making jiaozi at a local restaurant. The visit also featured a tour of the cutting-edge Alibaba headquarters, offering a glimpse into China`s modern business landscape.
在上海度过了充实的一周后，学生们乘坐高铁前往风景如画的杭州，200公里的旅程仅用了40多分钟。在杭州，学生们从上海的繁忙都市天际线平稳过渡到西湖的宁静美景。他们参观了当地的景点，包括丝绸博物馆、大运河以及充满历史的传统街道，还在当地餐馆亲自体验了包饺子。此外，此行还包括参观了前沿的阿里巴巴总部，学生们对中国现代商业环境有了深刻的了解。
Guangzhou Winter Camp | 广州冬令营
The Guangzhou Winter Camp offered an engaging narrative of tradition and modernity set against the city`s culturally rich and vibrant backdrop. With spring-like temperatures of around 25 degrees, students began their journey at South China University of Technology, where they participated in Mandarin language classes covering practical topics like greetings, transportation, shopping, and weather. Alongside language lessons, cultural activities included Wing Chun martial arts, Hanfu dressing, Lingnan handicrafts, and singing Chinese songs.
广州冬令营在这座文化底蕴深厚且充满活力的城市背景下，讲述了传统与现代的精彩故事。在春意盎然、气温约为25度的天气中，学生们从南方科技大学开始了他们的旅程，在这里他们参加了涵盖实用话题如问候语、交通、购物和天气的普通话课程。除了语言课程，文化活动还包括咏春拳、汉服体验、岭南手工艺和唱中文歌曲。
Evenings were filled with urban explorations, including city walks, shopping adventures, and sampling authentic Cantonese snacks and bubble tea. Students also delved into Guangzhou`s historical and cultural heritage through visits to iconic landmarks such as Huacheng Square, the Canton Tower, Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, and the Five Sheep Statue. They enjoyed a Pearl River Night Tour and explored intriguing sites like the Guangzhou Museum, Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Cantonese Opera Art Museum. The camp concluded with a visit to the Nanfeng Guzao Site, marking the end of a 10-day journey filled with cultural discovery and new friendships.
傍晚时分，学生们进行了城市探索，包括城市漫步、购物冒险以及品尝地道的粤式小吃和珍珠奶茶。学生们还通过参观广州的标志性地标，深入了解广州的历史文化遗产，包括花城广场、广州塔、陈家祠和五羊石像。他们还享受了珠江夜游，并参观了广州博物馆、中医药博物馆和粤剧艺术博物馆等有趣的景点。营地的最后一天，学生们参观了南风古灶遗址，标志着这次充满文化发现与新友谊的10天旅程的结束。
Students of both camps returned home with enhanced linguistic abilities and a deep understanding of China`s historical significance and modern vitality. CCN’s “Future with China” Short-Term Camps continue to inspire and ignite a passion for cultural exchange and education. As anticipation builds for the upcoming spring and summer programs, CCN looks forward to welcoming even more students to these enriching experiences, promoting China as not just a temporary destination but a gateway to lifelong learning and exploration.
两期冬令营的学生们带着提升的语言能力和对中国历史重要性及现代活力的深刻理解回到家乡。CCN的“与中国同行”短期营地继续激发并点燃学术交流与文化交流的热情。随着春夏项目的临近，CCN期待迎接更多学生加入这些富有意义的体验，推广中国作为不仅仅是一个短期目的地，更是通向终身学习与探索的门户。
